My TECNO Phantom 8 gets stuck on SMS

I have TECNO Phantom8 run on Android 7.0. Recently it has developed some issue. While I am writing SMS it hangs in the middle of it and noting works. I can switch of the screen but if I switch it again I get my opening screen but the screen is completely inactive. I have to force reboot to get into the phone.

Please assist.
