I'm getting a replacement phone in tomorrow, and wanted to know if backing up and restoring apps with this throws them back in the Market as downloaded? I thought I read somewhere that it doesn't, and really was it's only negative.

From what I gather you will have to download them again but at least you will know what apps you had :D

Grab freebie Listables. Use it to list all your apps, checkmark all, then "save to html". It will be saved to Listables/My apps.html" on your SD card. (I don't recall the precise html name.) When you get the new phone and insert that SD, you can use freebie Astro to view the file. Each listed app is hotlinked, meaning one tap will take you to the app's speicifc Market page for downloading.

This is the easiest method I've found for getting things back to square one, app wise. Bonus-- your freebies are included in the html file, which is great since they usually don't show in your Market download list.

Note; I believe the Market download list (paid apps) follows your gmail addy, so My Backup Pro has no effect regarding that. (At least, that's been my experience. I'm an app hound, so I wipe & restore just about monthly.)

Thanks a lot. I think I'll do that. I had used App List, which just creates a text file, but I found that to be painful, having to switch back and forth from Market searching to list.

I use My Backup Pro and love it although I have come across one issue while trying to back up my contacts online. It copies about 1/3 of them and then either closes or comes up with the error "database disk image is malformed".

Has anyone had this happen before, knows what is means and/or how to fix it?

I use both My Backup Pro and Titanium backup.

My Backup pro doesn't restore your market downloads and you can't receive updates, but it is good for restoring SMS messages, call logs and bookmarks ... while Titanium restores all app+data settings and restores all your download market links.
