Help N Notification Icon

Hi guys,

New to the forum and new to the Samsung S3.

Had it for just over 2 months now after switching from iPhone for several years. Anyway...enough of that.

Few questions re the S3.

I have a notification icon in the bar at the top that I can't get rid of..capital N with a sort of signal radar beside it(bottom left of the N)

I've also read the threads regarding battery life and i am lucky to get a day's usage out of mine...and that's me hardly using it.

As I said I am a newbie to the S3, any help in assisting with battery life and getting rid of that icon would be great.

N I assume would be NFC (Near Field Communication).

If you've read those threads on battery life, you already know what the answers are. Pointless us repeating ourselves over and over.

NFC is used for data transfer basically, mainly between S3 devices at the moment (similar to bluetooth but better) but it will be eventually used for things like making wireless payments etc.

You can turn it off in Settings -> More Settings and then NFC.

As above, there are countless threads about Battery Life, please take a look at those
