Help N1 > Sony Ericsson contact sync?

With my N95 I sync'd the contacts to GMail so the N1 picked them up... must be able to do similar?
 
Different phone but I ended up copying contacts on old phone to old sim (some were already saved there, some were in phone memory), putting old sim into nexus and then exporting them from sim to nexus.
