Help N7 Speaker Crackling/Popping

As the title suggests, I picked up my N7 from Gamestop yesterday and have been like a giddy school girl playing with it. However, the speaker has a cracking/popping sound that seems to usually happen when bass is playing (Transformers had alot of popping...) Anyone have a similar issue or do I just have a busted speaker? I really don't want to send my toy off after just getting it and have no idea when I'd get another.

Mind sounds fine, I heard no crackling. I would bring it in and exchange it while you can.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, mine was the last one in the shop I reserved it at. I'll have to look into other stores in the area.

Ugh, my speaker also crackles. At first I thought it was the plug that was crackling, but when I took it out, it still crackles.

Same problem with me. I bought mine from Google play. Gonna talk with them now.

My speaker distorts if I turn it above 40% for music and YouTube videos...what was Google's response?

It's a bummer all you folks are having issues (grandhighpuba and meckert too). I'd suggest getting in touch with Google (Nexus Help) and see if they'll send you a replacement unit. There's a phone number on the linked page. Just set aside some time because you'll likely be on hold for a while.

Mine was really bad with the crackling and popping. After giving up twice with hour long waits on the phone too Google, I popped the back off with a knife and sellotape some cotton balls to the speakers, it worked...

I'm having the same issues. I'm got mine from gamestop, hadn't really messed with the sound much, but when i first heard the default notification go off, it sounded horrible. So i played around with the music and it sounded like the speaker had blown. So i called Gamestop and they ordered me a replacement. Just playing the wait game now.
