Name a phone that can do the following and I'll buy it.

Papamalo

Android Enthusiast
1: Use a voice phrase like "OK Google" to open the phone when the LOCK SCREEN IS ON.
2: Be able to take a a picture by telling google assistant to "take a picture" and doing nothing more.

Need a high end hands-free phone that can do these so I do not have to unlock my phone while I am driving or doing other things.
Tanks.

I'm pretty sure the Pixels can, but I've got Assistant disabled at the moment (and never enabled the "ok Google" listening or the "trusted voice" stuff in the first place) so can't test to confirm.

(It's funny how tastes vary: your deal-breakers are things that I disable when I have them!)

Man, this was a total bummer. Now it looks like I will have to buy a phone that costs$200 more, and has 2GB less ram AND a smaller screen, just for an absolutely simple function that I already had on a phone that was 4 years old. I might to to a trade show just to yell at them.

Tastes do vary. Mine are kind of particular, because I work part time in a security company, and I need to take pictures of license plates on the company lot, as well as be able to ask google questions without using my hands. I'll trade you!
What Pixel do you have by the way?

Thanks. This is (Daily) driving me crazy,

@Hadron
The irony here is that from my old Motorola Moto x pure, all I really wanted was a bump in RAM GB and battery life and maybe a larger screen, when I discover that an older phone the Zenfone 3 Ultra has all that for less than I paid for this Xiaomi.
There's really no forum activity here on the Zenfone 3 Ultra, so I posted to all the other forums. Hell, Maybe NOT getting the latest ting might be what I need.
Thanks.

AND it looks like I can unlock it and access it while the screen is on lock.
I need another set of eyes on this to make sure I am not suffering smartphone dissatisfaction syndrome and just seeing what I want to. Lol.

Before I moved to China I worked for a security company as well for a short time, doing patrols, checking sites, etc. and in that job I wouldn't have been very comfortable repeating to my phone "OK GOOGLE TAKE A PICTURE"..."OK GOOGLE TAKE A PICTURE"..."OK GOOGLE TAKE A PICTURE'.. :D

...and we were often instructed to be discreet when patrolling.

This is why I like my Motorola Moto X pure so much better. I gave it a trigger word that was the name of a former girlfriend. Plus I was inside of a vehicle with the windows up so nobody would hear me say it anyway.
In fact, I don't even like saying OK Google at all. All phones should have a custom phrase built into it, I think it's kind of ridiculous that phones from 4 years ago have it, but Newer more expensive models don't.
It looks like I might end up getting an Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra anyway, life is strange my friend

I really don't like the screen that long and thin. Also, the galaxy 8 series only has 4 GB of RAM, and it costs more than $300 more than this xiaomi mi mix 2.

Apparently don't expect it to be too good at Google apps integration and maybe best used in China. I did consider the Mix 2 myself, but Huawei got my Renminbi in the end.

Speaking of which, can you use the phone that you currently use, and say "okay Google" and wake up a lock screen, and use the apps? Pretty much whatever phone does this will be the phone that I get.
thanks.

I have a Pixel 2 (the smaller one, I dislike the ergonomics of larger phones). 4GB ram but I'm not sure why you think 6 is essential: maybe a phone with a particularly bloated skin would benefit, but to be honest I think that how well it manages the ram is more important than an extra couple of GB.

I've checked the settings and it definitely has options for responding to the phrase when the screen is off, and of unlocking by voice (see image). I'd have guessed that these would be common in mainstream handsets, but obviously can't confirm. I've got it all turned off very comprehensively at the moment though, so don't really want to test the camera integration because of the number of different controls and settings I have switched off (there are a lot of separate Google information controls, and turning Assistant on will enable a lot of stuff that will take much longer to track down and turn off again).

The non-customisable trigger word is silly, but it's something most manufacturers do. I guess that Google/Samsung/Apple/Amazon want to maintain their brand identity. "Ok Google" is especially clumsy, but I'm sure they don't want some cynic like me to change it to "Big Brother" ;).

Since you seem to like how Moto Voice works, have you looked at any of the soon to be released models like the Moto G6?
I like the specs, especially the larger screen and the 64gb version has 4gb ram. No NFC and I'm sure updates will be few and far between but not bad for the price.

Thank you guys! I needed some more eyes on this.
I guess I imagined that a bump up to 6 GB would be amazingly faster than the 3GB I have become used to working with with my motorola Moto X Pure.

My disappointment with the Moto 6G is that it has that same lousy 3000 mAh battery that was the achilles heel for the MXPE. But maybe I could put up with that in return for my familiar UE, and a affordable price.
Taking in what you guys are saying, I found a phone that might meet all my needs, and is not brand new, but it has specs I like.

Asus Zenfone 3"

4GB Ram
Snapdragon 652
Adreno 510
4600 mAh battery.
6.0 inch display
great price
Ability to open locked phone saying "OK Google" (I am still verifying this)

Basically on whatever phone I get, I don't play video games, I don't listen to music on my phone, don't care about ultra resolution on the screen, but I do want large screen, fast access to apps and emails, good google integration, and a battery with staying power.

Thanks for walking me through this, guys.

Found it! (Sorry for dragging everyone along on what must appear to be a noobfest safari)

At the end of the day, the LG V30 looks like the one. People on XDA developers confirm ability to unlock lock screen and wake up phone using only voice, and I just received a reply from LG which included:

"Regarding your concern, please be advised that you may indeed unlock the phone's lock screen or wake the screen up via voice command through the Voice Recognition feature of the LG V30 as stated on the following page:

http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-US998-Unlocked-v30 "

AND:

Plus is has Snapdragon 835, 4GB Ram, highly rated cameras, a 3300 mAh battery, and appears to be the bump up in every category I want. Just looking for the lowest price now, since it's roughly $150-$200 more than the original $450 mI wanted to spend.
Thank for everyone's help. It's like having a damned baby or something. Lol.

@mikedt
I have to say, other than my special needs, in general, the Xiaomi Mix 2 was a GREAT phone. If it had voice unlock, I would have bought it. The build and software are all really top notch. and it just FEELS nice.I wish it had had that feature I needed.
