Interesting...

Only one USB port, so will a USB hub work?
NO ethernet port, so you better have reliable WiFi!
It runs Android TV version 6.
Older Mali 450 GPU which is from 2012. (Probably doesn't matter.)

so this is the mainstream of tv box?

Depends where you live.

In America, there are almost no options because the TVs already have their terrible proprietary versions of what constitutes "Smart TV".

Also, America is usually the last on the list when it comes to useful tech gadgets. The Asian countries always get this stuff first and when something new comes along the old stuff gets shipped off to the USA.

Add to that the unrelenting cable monopolies and internet providers... well, American consumers are really screwed.

Android TV has a very slick UI, better than Roku or Fire TV, IMO. And Xiaomi says this will update to Android TV 7.0 at some point and the voice search will gain the new Google Assistant capabilities. Good stuff.

How about Remix IO+ on Kickstarter?

I'd personally hold off on this, at least till they drastically improve the hardware and work out the teething problems.

This device is selling itself as a 'gaming console' but the piss-poor specs don't impress me much.

It's really not much more than one of the many Android TV boxes already out there that make some cosmetic changes to the remote or the shape of the box and sell it as more than what it really is.

I think you can either buy a very expensive TV box,or buy a cheap one, because the expensive product quality and product design is good, they can be used for a long time, and cheap products have problem after use for some time, you can spend a little money to buy a new one.
I bought this TV box, cheap and easy to use,I have used it for 2 weeks, it did not have any problems, maybe you can look at this TV Box.

I bought this TV box, cheap and easy to use...

Yep, that's the ticket. Buy 'em cheap and work 'em to death! :)

I have got used to boxes with 4 USB ports and I use them all so although this is a pretty nice box, the 2 USB ports are a deal-breaker for me.

"You use all four USB ports?" I hear you gasp!

Well, yes, I do...

I use one port for the Logitech K400 Plus keyboard/touchpad.
(Possibly the best value Android TV add-on in the world!)
The second port is for a permanently attached 'mini' media library 2 TB drive that has all my favourite videos on it.
The remaining two USB ports are used for switching in and out sticks with other videos on them that I have downloaded for 'once only' viewing.

I have the Mi Box, and it is great. The Wi-Fi was not strong where I wanted it though, so I bought a ish hub+ethernet from Amazon and it's been flawless. Using it mostly for spotify, netflix, pandora, and SageTV.

Try to avoid non 'Android TV' boxes, as there are a lot of them. Most have their own in-house UI based off the Android tablet ui that is pretty hit or miss. Stick to, actual Android TV if you want a great experience.
