Navigator for android

Hello everyone, I am new here so I hope that I am posting in the right section...

I am a new Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 Mini user and I am a bit confused with all these "navigation-maps" stuff.. I tried to find some info for how to use offline maps and navigators on the web but I didn't came to a decent solution.
I downloaded the "Maverick app" from android market and tried to use these instructions here ---> Online Help: Maverick: Setting up offline maps but I cannot manage to get my custom map..

So, if anyone could help with a working solution, that would be great.

It depends on what you want to do
Car navigation: CoPilot (for phones with small memory) and Navigon are the best.
Pedestrians navigation in the city: Navigon.
Outdoor hiking and biking: ViewRanger.

EDIT: The apps have their maps on the SD card.

You can also try iGo MyWay, Ndrive, Sygic or Locations of you have the latest Sense UI. My personal favorite is CoPilot.. been using it for 2 years now and it looks great on my HTC Desire HD Android Revolution 3.1 ROM.

There are a number of options out there. I'd suggest sticking to the easier to use apps that store maps locally such as CoPilot and Navigon. Quite a few of the other options require you to jump through hoops to preload maps. If you're fine with preloading each map that you need then by all means consider those options.
