Need a new smartphone

Hi I'm new to Phandroid, but this site looks awesome! I have a dilemma that I'm hoping someone here can help with or at least guide me to make a decision. I recently slammed by Galaxy S down on a table when I was angry, and that cracked the screen and it will not work at all. I've had it since November 2010 and I loved it! I'm now looking at the new Samsung Galaxy S3, but my boyfriend just got this phone 10 days ago and has terrible reception where I live. But his camera on it is soo awesome and I used my old phone as my main source for pics. I'm currently using an old LG flip phone that gets better reception than even my old Samsung Galaxy S. I was at least able to use my old Galaxy S in some rooms of my house and always outside. My bf's new Galaxy S3 isn't working in the house at all and has terrible reception outside and sometimes not at all. I know my house is in a bad spot for reception (according to Verizon is in a 3G only area), but couldn't believe how his phoone pales in comparison for reception to my old one (his Galaxy S3 verses old Galaxy S). We both have Verizon as a provider. The Verizon sales people suggest that I get a Motorola Droid for possible better reception, but I really want the GS3. Can anyone help with suggestions or knowledge? I'm going crazy not having a smartphone.

Hi Lynnems, and welcome to AF :)

I think the main question is whether you boyfriend's Verizon S3 is normal, or whether it's unusual in having bad reception. Being British I have no experience of Verizon (S3's here seem fine, but use a different radio technology), but you could ask over in the S3 forum. We also have a forum for device/carrier comparisons, where you may find some information that will help you.

Good luck with your decision, and I hope someone can comment from direct experience.
