Need advice on resuming mp3 from last played position

Hey everyone,

I'm on a GS3 and I have a lot of long mp3 audiobook files. Double twist, google music, and the galaxy s3 standard player wont resume playing from the last spot I am at. With all the programs, the long mp3 will reset to the beginning if I listen to another piece of audio after.

I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to resume from the spot I was when I pushed pause. Do I need to change the file format from mp3 to something else?

Try poweramp.

Its a paid app. Cheap though. Tons of features. One I recently learned is that when you turn on this feature, the screen is put over your lock screen!

So you don't have to unlock the screen, switch to the app and start finagling with it.

And yes whenever you unplug and plug in a headphone into the jack, it starts for when it stops.and yes when you unplug the headphone it stops...

From my previous attempts at being able to resume playback from previous position in an mp3 file, I've not found any app to do that unless it is only paused, if the app is allowed to exit it starts from the start.

One exception is in the m4b file format which is used in apple products, these are identified as audio books, apps capable of reading this format should be able to do that on android platform also.

I haven't actually tested this out, but note that my car mp3 players would loose position and my classic ipod does not. As an anti apple person this galls me to no end.

Can't help with getting this to work but maybe an app specifically for audiobooks ... I found this one

Seems to have great rating and reviews

I really hope I can figure this out also. I ordered my first Android phone and it's arriving soon! Really excited to move from iPhone to this OS but I am a bit worried about the music player. The "iPod" version of my iPhone is the feature I used most, mainly for my audiobooks which are in the .m4b or .m4a file. I hope that I will find an app to play those on the Android and that it will keep the last played position! Otherwise the new phone might be a deal breaker for me but still excited to try this out!!

This app is exactly what you need. I listen to a lot of audio books in .mp3 format and it works flawlessly. It's a 30 day free trial and then it reverts to the basic version but it's well worth it.

Edit: I just realized that the OP was from back in September 2012. I'm sure the OP was already solved his issue.
