i currently have an evo 4g phone with all the bells and whistles. i was going to buy a prepaid phone so i can text people and they wouldnt have my main phone #. Example i want to have my main phone but use the app to text other people and they have a different # come up on their end but can still text me back. I dont want to buy another phone but would like another # to text from. The guy at radio shack told me there are apps that can disguise my number.

Ok. Don't cheat. Not even text-flirting. Look up poptext in the market. It's free, not sure if it works, so test it out first.

Yes, Google Voice is free. You sign up from a PC and get a phone number from the website, then set up your account on the PC to forward any calls or texts (or just texts) to your cell. There is a Google Voice app that you can use on your phone to specify to use the GV number or not when sending a text through the app. When people text that number it comes to your phone.
