Need help deactivating someone's straight talk account

JDLEWIS18

Lurker
I just bought a used LG Rebel 3 yesterday from Straight Talk, I called customer service to activate it and they told me the previous owner took the original SIM card out and activated another phone. He said I'm supposed too contact them and have them deactivate there account. I cannot use this phone because its still showing there's service on the phone I bought? Can someone explain this in laimen terms

Are you trying to activate it with straight talk? Many of these budget phone/plans are locked to the carrier so you can't buy a cheap phone, ditch the contract and take it to a different carrier. Depending on the plan you can only unlock them when the contract is satisfied, and then only by the original owner. How did you buy it? Ebay? Craigslist?

Contact the seller and have them remove the phone they sold you from their Straight Talk account. Once removed, you can add it to your ST account and move on...
