Help need help for CyanogenMod 7.2

hi,
im new in android phone and im sorry, if this kind of thred already created.i google alot and now im very confused about CyanogenMod 7.2. (what i know so far is cyanogenmode is custom rom, u first need to root ur mobile and then backup with CWM)i did both part, but now which cyanogenmode is right or not.
please can any one tell me what is RC1 RC2... RC stable and kang and also coolya kernel ,odexed.
one more thing every mobile has its own CyanogenMod or one CyanogenMod works on all mobile. Regards

RC= Release Candidate. RC1 is ok. RC2 is very bad. Have used both. RC1 offers 15hr battery life. Only good thing is customization options(many). U need to put the clockworkmod file on your phone, and install it. Then you put in the rom file.
You install these files by going into the download mode.
Press Power+ Volume rocker + Rectangular home button at once for3 seconds.

....screen will show downloading. will then load a screen.
Touch screen wont work now. toggle using volume rocker and select using home/rectangular button.

once you install cwm the look of this screen will change.

RC 1/2 are unofficial cm7 roms. wont find them on cm website.
