need help for wifi

i m a new bee just got my 1st android phone v2.1 ... just wana to know whenevr i get in any wifi zone or near to any wifi modem .... i can just strt surfing net by turning wifi - ON , or do i also need to make some more settings ?

Kind of. You will need to go to menu-settings-wireless and networks-wifi, and find the network you want to connect to. If there is no security, it should connect automatically. If there is a password required, it will ask for it.

Once you connect to that network for the first time, you wont have to do this again, as it will remember it. Then all you will have to do is turn on the wifi and it will connect.

Also, some public WiFi locations require you accept a terms of use agreement before allowed to connect, usually done with a checkbox in a redirected browser window. You will have to accept this every time you connect to that particular network since those settings are not remembered.
