Need Help Organizing Music!!!

Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to Android so need to break apart from the comfortable iPhone period :p

On the iPhone I could sync it with iTunes which I could manually add / rename the songs and add album artwork without hassle.

However I now have a huge problem!

I'm a bit of an obsessive with organising music and find it irritating trying to find a song when its not all together in one album!

for example I have will smiths greatest hits (strange choice I know) and it is scattered everywhere! I have will smith (with 5 songs) then jazzy jeff and will smith (3 songs) then will smith ft. someone else? (2 songs) and its not all together you see, I'd like to rename it either on an easy to use media player such as iTunes (but an equivalent) or on my phone i'm not fussed as long as it's organized.

Please help

It seems you are looking at "artists" instead of "albums". It would also help if you mentioned what phone and or what music app you are using, as each manufacturer has a different stock music app, and other like me use third party music apps.

I personally use Ubermusic. If I look under the "Artists" tab, it shows as you mention it. However if I look under the "Albums" tab, no matter who the artists are, they are combined under one entry if they are from the same album.

Your ID3 tags are incorrect then. The correct way to tag compliations like that, is to leave the Artist tag as "Will Smith". If one song is Will Smith featureing Jazzy Jeff, don't add Jazzy Jeff to the Artist tag, or the phone will see that as a separate artist. Add any additional artists to the Song Title tag.

So for example, if the song is Fresh Prince by Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff, the Artist should be "Will Smith", and the Song Title should be "Fresh Price feat. Jazzy Jeff"

I have a galaxy s2 and using the built in samsung one as well as winamp as my media player, also i found an itag app which allows me to edit id3 tags but its individually, i cant edit as a group :/

He did mention albums, not artists. Its not actually incorrect to add multiple artists into the artists tag, I do that, but I put the name of the Album artist first (i.e Will Smith ft Jazzy Jeff, unlike the OP who placed Jazzy Jeff first), so they will appear after each other. I also would be able to see various artists together under one album since I have the albums tagged as well, you just have to go to the Albums tab in your music player. That tab would show the songs in a similar album together, regardless of who the artist is.

Using Tagscanner, I find that the most important tags to be edited are the Artist, Song Title, Album, and Album Artist. Dependent on music player It usually has those tabs for Artist Songs and Albums. If I also remember correctly, the CoverFlow on iPhone default player shows the songs by default arranged by album. In the SGS2 default player, AFAIK, it defaults to either songs or artists, and albums can be reached if you hold the phone in landscape with autorotate turned on.
