Need help picking a replacement phone.

So my old sensation decided to no longer take a charge so now I am using my wife's broken soon to be sent back POS BB9900...and after that goes a cheapie prepaid spare samsung (even more painful than the BB to use)...but I know I need to replace the HTC since I didn't have insurance here are my thoughts.

cowboom.com had pre-owned Amazes for $288 plus $62 for a 2 yr warranty..HspA 42+ speeds too..
Or
A new GSM nexus for $349. I could add a squaredeal warranty for 70 a year if i felt the need.

so used amaze or new nexus?

Or for 240 a used sensation and 45$ for a 2 yr insurance plan thru cowboom?

I have the Nexus and love it. It is quick, the GSM version has solid battery life, a beautiful screen, and Jellybean. It is a nice advantage to have no bloatware, just the most recent Google version of Android.

Looks like an interesting choice. I guess it comes down to what is important to you as both phones seem to have advantages.

With the nexus is it "slowed down" as the tmobile rep told me any "non t mobile phone" would not get data as fast as a t mobile phone...i think he was talking about ipones and such...

That's a load of crap.
But no the GNex is only HSPA+ 21

That limitation is only due to the hardware in the device.
I was designed that way.

That said I don't have much of an issue with the speeds..
Just pulled these older speed tests off two of my devices:

This is a GNex:

This is a One S:

I think that 7-8 down is just fine by me.
19 is.... nicer but the One S does H+ 42

I alternate between a Nexus and the One S at times.
Both are very good devices IMHO.

I believe he was referring to an AT&T phone, as AT&T uses a different frequency for 3G as AT&T. A great example is the iPhone, people who try to move an AT&T iPhone only get EDGE.

In the case of the Nexus, it is a true unlocked phone that has the bands used by almost all GSM carriers worldwide. As others mentioned, the only "issue" is that it is only HSPA+21 instead of 42 (limited to 21mbps instead of 42 mbps).
