Root need help!! rc33 to froyo

I just rooted my g-1 and am currently running rc33.. I do not like it. It looks very old and not too user friendly. I would like to update and flash to froyo... cyanogen 6.... but I am somewhat of a noob and a lil worried bout proper prcedures... I have searched.... but is there a guide anywhere telling me how to do this step by step? Again... I will be going from rc33 to cyanogen 6 and I need to know proper radio to get and proper recovery, etc... any help would be much appreciated as I love this phone and do not want to destroy it!
