Need help "resetting" phone to its original state

Sul Doher

Newbie
I have a Huawei Honor Holly (Hol-U19) which I recently rooted. I then attempted to install a custom ROM and ClockworkMod, but somehow it all ended in me not being able (as far as I know) to access recovery mode. Also, when I do a factory reset from the Settings app, that doesn't actually do anything - I don't know if my attempt to do so screwed something up or not.

I have an SD card connected, and on it are, among other things, folders named "clockworkmod" (containing two files: ".nomedia" and ".settings") and "Kingroot" (with one folder "user" containing files "e_config" and "xda_config.dat").

Also, the phone doesn't show up in Windows Explorer (whether USB debugging is on or not or the SD card is inserted or not).

The gist of it is that I don't know how to install the stock ROM to "reset" it back to its original "form", and I really need some help on this. If you need any other specific information, I'll try my best to give it to you.

After following their guide to install ClockworkMod Recovery, when I click "reboot into recovery" it just restarts the phone. When I turn off the phone and hold Down+Power, it does not reboot into either ClockworkMod Recovery or the stock recovery mode, just the normal screen. I don't know if I somehow managed to remove the stock recovery or what the problem is.
EDIT: Also, when I boot holding Up+Power, it shows the following screen:
Select Boot Mode:
[VOLUME_UP to select. VOLUME_DOWN is OK.]

[Recovery Mode] <<==
[Fastboot Mode]
[Normal Mode]

However, if I select Recovery Mode, it just takes me right to the main boot screen.

You might want to go back to the XDA thread and follow the instructions for flashing stock recovery. If you did somehow manage to remove the recovery from your phone it would be best to try stock first.

I downloaded the stock recovery .img and then flashed it using Flashify. I rebooted the phone and tried to enter recovery mode. However, it just took me right back to the main screen, like before. I tried flashing it again, but it still didn't work.
I have no idea what to do.

Have you tried (with the phone off) holding the volume up and volume down buttons while pressing power?

If I do that, it vibrates, shows a logo and hides the logo - this repeats until I let go, and then it just goes to the normal screen. If I hold UP+POWER, I get to the state which I describe in post #4. If I hold DOWN+POWER, I get to a screen called "FactoryKit Test" which seems to be irrelevant.

Ah, you might already have a driver installed for it, do you have a listing for an "Android Device"? if you do, you'll want to uninstall that and then reboot your machine.

It is showing up as "HUAWEI U19 PHONE" in Devices and Printers, how do I uninstall it? I can't do it by clicking Properties and then Driver.

That just disconnects the phone... It does nothing with the driver.

I can apparently use Properties -> Hardware -> Properties -> Change settings -> Driver -> Uninstall to uninstall "HUAWEI U19 PHONE"'s "driver" (which I assume isn't there based on the device status window showing "the drivers for this device are not installed"). If I "uninstall" this "driver" and then go to devmgmt I still can't see an "Other" tab.

Right-click>properties>driver reinstall driver and then select have disk and browse to the folder where the MT65xx drivers are.

I tried that, but I'm just shown the following screen:
Windows was unable to install your HUAWEI U19 PHONE
Windows could not find driver software for your device.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

You might have to expand the .rar file to its proper folder structure. Then you browse to the windows 7 folder (are you using windows 7?)
