need help to play mp4 from sony to laptop

Hi, I recorded a video on a sony experia G3123 with android version 7.0. The video is 7.57MB and is mp4.... I can't get it to play in google drive, macbook pro or HP laptop with windows 10. I connected the phone to my HP laptop with a cord/wire and copied the file over.... I've tried VLC, aimersoft and others and haven't gotten anywhere. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? It does play on phone and other cellphones but nowhere else... thanks

Can you upload the MP4 here so we can try it or is it a private video you don't want to share? How about using a file explorer or you Android phone and sharing/sending it via email to yourself, seeing if it will play in a browser (try chrome, firefox, safari, and whatever else).

You're missing codecs to play the mp4.
QuickTime may work.
