Need help trying remote sync.

Jimbobwho

Newbie
Hi all I love iSyncr. I have recently started using Google home and assistant to automate/ control my pc.

My latest attempt is to sync my music with iSyncr from a remote location.

I have already got google assistant on my phone to run the "sync now" widget for iSyncr. And this is great when home.

I have set up port forwarding on my router so that I can use my public ip to connect to and sync my music and podcasts from iTunes through iSyncr to my phone while at work.

It connects and I can see and select my playlists but when I try to sync it comes up with an error saying it was not able to transfer data.

Any help? Has anyone managed to do this?

Just to clarify, are you using the free or the pro version of iSyncr? Apparently the paid-for version is required for full syncing functionality:
"The pro version of iSyncr gives you unlimited song and playlist syncing. Sync your iTunes music library with your Android devices."
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrtstudio.iSyncr&hl=en_US

If you are using the pro version then my next question shifts to how you're remotely accessing your home network. Regarding the 'public IP' you referred to, again just to clarify, is it an ISP supplied static IP or just the typical dynamic IP, or are you instead using a work-around service like DynDNS or No-IP?

Also, as you mentioned having port forwarding set up through your router, do you have any kind of additional firewall device on your home network, or a firewall service in place on the computer that you're trying to remotely sync to?

Wow.....thank you sounds like you know what you'really doing.

Yes full version.. i'm syncing 5 "smart" playlists.

Yes I am using noip. But have not yet tried using the actual domain for access as I it set up for other items but I have been referring to it when performing tests and it doean't seem to have changed. At least it hasn't during my run of tests.

As to other firewalls only windows defender at this point. And I have checked that iSyncr has full access rights set.

I am current ally with Vodafone for.my broadband and have set up port forwarding to direct connections heading in on the defult port of 34000 to be passed to my pc.

I have tested this on tcp and udp. Only tcp connects.

Upon opening iSyncr on my phone I enter my public ip, that I have checked using find my ip and running my no-ip dynamic update program, and leave the port as it is.

When trying thus with udp it just fails straight away also if I put in the wrong public ip.

When these details are correct and the port forwarding is set to tcp, then it connects and I an presented with the list of playlists for me to select which ones I wish to sync.

When I then click "sync now" I get an error (sorry but I can no remember the error code at this time) stating no transferable data. Or something along those lines.

I thought this may have been that I had not selected any playlists as it was my first test. But after selecting a few I was still getting the same message.

I have just tried again and have received the message of no reachable ip error code 49.

I don't know if focusing on TCP or UDP is a part of the problem here. Just speculating but UDP would only be used for the actual data transferring (with TCP being needed to do all the initial iSyncr authentication and setup between your phone and your PC).
As for a firewall, note that Windows Defender is the integral anti-virus/anti-malware utility while the actual, integral firewall is its own service. Reading through your previous postings I'd still tend to think the Windows firewall is something to look into. Have you tried going through the set up process again to confirm it's not blocking port 34000?

You might want to just go through the entire set up process again on both your phone and your PC too:

Another issue is if you have any kind of anti-virus/anti-malware app on your phone. If so you might want to temporarily disable it as that might be what's blocking iSyncr from syncing properly.

Their site also has contact info to send them an email if none of their online documentation isn't helping:

I'mean away for a few days and some of this will be easier to do at my pc instead of over chrome remote desktop. But I will defiantly check it out.

I have spoken to the JRT guys or should I say gal. She is a wonderful person that I have contacted for things before. She said she has heard of people doing it before but as they do not support it natively they do not provide information on how to do it. Which I think if fair enough. Hence why I came.looking here when I was having problems.
