Help Need Help-Unable to Update Android!

I've had my phone for almost a year now and today my friend (who has the same phone) asked me if I've updated my phone yet. But when I connected my phone to my PC laptop, there were no new updates to be found. I also tried going to settings and about phone, also no new updates found. I'm not sure if there's something wrong with my phone because after I disconnected it to my PC laptop, the phone would freeze. The SD card also periodically doesn't read and I would have to restart my phone and pull out the card. Please help!

Join the club, there are a few of us all in the same boat. Apparently sony does not give a damn about us and expects us to go out a buy the new hand sets if we want the update.
Basically if you haven't had the update from sony then you have no chance of ever getting it (this is the common no BS translation of sony's answers)
 
As a Last Resort ,if you dont have root (I like to root ),use Flashtool to Update
Rooting is a headache with ics (downgrade -upgrade ...takes an hour or so ..)

What is flash tool :Consider it it an unofficial way to get official updates
