I can uninstall the apps I put on my phone no prob, but i want to remove the apps i dont use at all- aka the stock ones, and im new to using my droid...aka im driod stupid. can anyone help?!

You shouldn't remove stock apps. You can remove non core apps or additional bloat apps, but not the stock ones. They can cause services to stop working. For example, removing the stock SMS app can actually render your phone unable to receive SMS even if you have a third party app. Just let them be, or if you are using a third party launcher like Go or Launcher Pro, just use the hide function.

The apps that came installed on your phone are system level apps. Let me offer a word of caution. Many apps provide services for other parts of the OS and if you remove them, you can disable certain features or make your phone unusable. More importantly, system apps are not easily restorable like simply installing an .apk file. And once deleted, even a factory reset will not recover them. You will have to locate and flash a stock rom image to get them back. If you plan on rooting and deleting those apps, please check back here first before you do anything so we can make sure it's safe for you to delete those without any negative impact to your phone.

i dont want to remove sms... i want to get rid of things like the hookt and twitter..
It is safer to freeze those apps than to delete them. There is always the possibility of unintended consequences, and deletion of preinstalled apps will usually prevent you from receiving OS updates. To freeze apps you must be rooted though. If you decide to go that route, I recommend Titanium Backup or Bloat Freezer (what I use).

Not all preinstalled apps are "system level" (Google 'bloatware').

OP, the entire reason that they're difficult to remove in the first place has to do with what folder they are placed in. Anything you add from the Market (or elsewhere) goes into the /data folder; no one cares what goes in our out of that folder of the operating system. The ones you want to remove, along with others you likely want to keep, are in the /system folder. Anything that's put in there, either by Google, the manufacturer like Motorola or Samsung, or even your carrier like Verizon CANNOT be removed unless you root your device as the typical user simply isn't given access to it, despite the fact that in some cases you can see the icon for it.
