Need new phone, what's best at vm?

I'm looking for a phone w/Oreo or one that I can easily download Oreo on, which would mean a phone I can easily root or flash rom/unlock. I've got an LGS775 18 mo old, warranty expired and can't do much with it, so time to upgrade, root, and customize endlessly. I'm looking at virgin mobile because I already have it for a carrier, but I want a better phone, for $200 or less if possible. I'm open to suggestion?

I have a virgin mobile Moto e4. Great little phone. I just saw the Moto E5 play for virgin mobile at Walmart for $69. It has Oreo. It's new, but root is possible. And Moto devices have a good track record for development.
