I live in a rural area and my only option for internet is via satellite.
I currently use Tracfone for cell service as we do not use it much.
I am looking into switching landline and cell service to VZW and was wondering if replacing the satellite internet was an option if I were to use something like pdanet on the Droid Eris.
My questions are:
Is the VZW data plan truly unlimited?
Will pdanet allow me to use the Eris as my data connection without paying VZW for tefther?
Does the Eris have built-in Wifi or will I need a router?

Thanks for the info.

It has built in WiFi. I am not sure about PDANet, but there are apps that will allow you to tether your phone. I would not do it though because they can track it and you will just end up with a huge bill.

It'll work. I've never not had service! This includes the nort woods an hour north of Green Bay when my buds can't even CALL!, much less use 3G. The hills of western KY. And the literal middle of nowhere, on the Powder River, down in the basin prairie doggin' in Central Wyoming...it does get spotty as you get up onto I-25 due to the mountains and dips. But based on those three spots, I'm confident that VZW goes where no one else goes. Again, with 3G no less! PDAnet will work like a charm, but if you're going to use it a lot, I'd do the right thing and buy the usb thingie for your computer. I do think that they'll see if you try to abuse it. Tho' with the new phones, how much would that have to take?
