Need PSX help. rom file extractor

Hi All,

I just bought the psx emulator today from the android market. i watched the youtube video on how to do it and I have been trying for a very long time.

I get to the point where I downloaded the game I wanted then extract the file into a 7z file. it turns into a folder and i cannot extract is anymore.

i open my phone and put in the created file in the psx folder.

I currently have the spch1001.bin file and a folder in there labeled "psx" as stated above.

I just cant seem to get it to work and I would really like it if someone could shed some light upon this problem I am experiencing.

thanks for reading.

First of all heya :)

You say the files extract as a folder? and which extensions are there in the folder if you can see? and also just to make sure, you mention that you have the bios file (spch1001.bin) but did you also "choose" it as the bios file in psxoid? in the settings there you can choose the name of your file and you need to do that before you're able to select games to emulate.

what is the extention after you extract? 7z is the type of compression. it should decompress into another file?

1. unzip using a winzip.
2. decompress using 7z software. google. it is free
3. then you have to FURTHER decompress by using a program called unecm. google. it is a free program.

you will get a file after 7z decompressin that will say data.bin.ecm i believe. you have to drag this file over the unecm program and it will do a checksum for errors and extract into a true bin file. good luck.:)

I have been having trouble getting the Emulator to work on my Droid X. I've gone through the steps griswold describes above, I have the scph1001.bin as my psx bios. When i open the .bin file for the rom, the screen goes black to where the emulator thinks the game is running but nothing happens. Any sugguestions?

i am pretty sure that i read on one of the android forums that if it is doing this, then you have a bad bios file. try to find another one and see if that works.

It can be as said above, but it can also be a non-working rom, tried a few games that don't work proper yet on the emulator. I'd advice you to try with a game that is confirmed to be working and see whether it is the emulator or the previous rom was a bad one.

Thanks for the advice. I'm currently downloading another rom to test out. I'll give several a try before reporting back. I did download another bios and noticed it was appx. twice the size of the original I was using. 288kb-->512kb. That didn't seem to make a change.

I want to play playstation on my phoneeeeeeee.

my screen goes black as well as tho its tryin to play the game...the games i have tried are Tekken, Monster Rancher, Marvel vs. Capcom, and NFL Blitz and none work..any good links for a KNOWN good bios file and is that even what the problem is
