Need some help finding lost files!

I really need some help please. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ and I just connected a USB drive to it. I was trying to move some very precious family videos and photos. I clicked move here and they seemed to move okay. I plugged the device (usb drive) into a Windows computer which said it had errors and it needed to scan and fix and repair. I allowed it to do that and even though other files I have moved earlier are there...the new ones are not but the folders I created are...just empty . Is there any place on the Android I can find those files because now in my gallery there are missing as well. I am so depressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh my goodness it worked. I see the files that went missing. Now I just need to figure out how this program works. You are my hero! Thank you, Thank you!

Yes it was a dummy move. I knew when I clicked it, that was a mistake. I see the files now but when I unmount the USB drive and put on PC the folder is there but the copied files aren't. I must be doing something wrong. I will mess with it more today later. I need to actually charge the phone now.

As you're performing your "duties," don't unmount. Keep things together until you're certain that the pictures are there. Hell, while you're at it, download Odin to your PC - gain root/Superuser privileges, & load stuff in via Titanium Backup... or any app within that purview.

I'm not a bad influence...

If you're interested, check out F-Droid. They have apps that won't tie you to the G Data Sling/Mining. Or... continue on as you are, and BE HAPPY. Stay Strong.

I appreciate all of the advice. The end result is I am still very sad about all of this. Diskdigger wants you to buy the pro version even though it found the photos/videos and when I went to recover them in the trial version ..it turned my videos into small images ..1 per video. This wouldn't be so bad but these were very small videos of my mother - who is 80 and my older sister. Knowing this program was able to find them but now only giving me a small sample of the video - hence ..compressed photo really makes me sad. My phone is unlocked but I have no clue if that means rooted or not. I wish there was a way to rollback the phone to a previous date, like restore does in Windows. Is there a way or any more suggestions guys?

Suggest you try Photorec. https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec It is completely free, and I've successfully used it to recover deleted pictures and videos.

I don't use Windows myself, I'm Mac and Linux, but doesn't Windows completely delete the originals when you do a Move rather than Copy in its File Manager?
