Need some help understanding something in the battery settings

So recently my phone (verizon note 3) started having terrible battery life. Nothing changed, no new apps or settings ect. So I check under the battery settings to see if I can find out what the problem application might be. However, what I found was my "Time on Battery" and "Awake" were exactly the same. After researching the forums I found that under normal circumstances, the "Time on battery" should be more than "Awake time". For instance, on my phone, it says, Time on Battery = 8h 5min, and Awake Time = 8hr 5min. So my phone is "awake" even though the phone screen is not on, which by the way, screen time is 2h 36min. I am having trouble figuring out why my phone is "awake" and hopefully you guys here have some suggestions.

Thanks!

You need to see which app is creating a wake lock. Try gettings GSAM battery stats and look which app is always awake.

using GSAM, I selected "view time held awake" and the largest is Kernel (Android OS), and then "System", but combined they are only 10 minutes or so. That doesn't account for over 8 hours of "awake" time that the battery is showing.

actually I should add that I did reboot the phone so my awake times will be smaller. However, I did notice that "System" Wake lock is now the largest user. With 6m 55s of wake time. Wake lock detail says audoiout_2 6.9m (92), and included processes lists wake lock and media server.
