need something sturdy

I have a G'zone Commando, that is rapidly dying. I am a full out Klutz, so I need something sturdy. I have been trying to decide about the Razr Maxx HD, or something else. Should I wait for the new Commando or the New Motorola? Do I get a dreaded Iphone with a Lifeproof case? If they made Lifeproof for Android It would be an easier decision. I live and work in areas with VERY poor signals. I need a phone that can keep a connection with 1/2 a bar or less. My old G'zone Type S, could with ease, so I know it is possible. I use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop at work, so it is really important that I can get that signal. I am open to suggestions. :confused:

Caterpillar is offering a ruggedized smartphone now. Yeah the same people who make tractors are selling smartphones. Here are some links to some reviews;

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be coming out in a ruggedized version but there's no release date yet.

I'm not sure about either of these phones connection speeds in your area though.

The CAT is not available for Verizon, but even if it was it is only 3g. That is just not acceptable in this day and age.
