Need to put stock FW on Samsung Galaxy S5

My Uncle gave me his old Samsung Galaxy S5. It has Verizon stock FW loaded to it. My current Galaxy S5 is stock AT&T. I'm looking to change my Uncle's phone from Verizon to ATT, so I can move my SIM and start using it. My old S5 is on it's last leg. So, I'm hoping to get my Uncle's phone converted so I can use it.

Stats:
Uncle Phone: SM-G900V - Stock FW and OS for my region. Whatever the provider is supporting.
My Phone: SM-G900A - Stock FW and OS for my region. Whatever the provider is supporting.

So far, I've got my PC loaded with Odin, my Uncle's phone is in debug mode with Samsung USB drivers loaded to PC. I got G900AUCS4DPH4 v 6.0.1 FW loaded to Odin, in the 4 sections they belong. Ran Odin as an admin. Re-Partition is not ticked. Basically, using default options.

When I start the process, the phone says: SECURE CHECK FAIL : PIT

I've never done this before, but I felt my sys admin, and general IT background, would have given me an edge. Apparently not. I'm a quick learner, but with so many variables, and so many ways to break it, I'm not sure what I'm doing is being done the right way, or if it's even possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Both the G900V, Verizon, and the G900A, AT&T, U.S. carrier models run a heavily adapted, ersatz, version of Samsung's firmware and each possess their own mega locked down bootloader that prevents rooting or flashing of alternative or custom firmware. As @ironass stated, you need to use the ROM that's matching that particular model's I.D. They're not interchangeable, every phone model has its own unique hardware configuration (different chips from different suppliers) and each ROM has to be created with the corresponding drivers/firmware/software to match those particular hardware components. A ROM is not like an install disc/media where the install process detects the hardware and then the appropriate software gets installed accordingly. Flashing a ROM is more or less just copying over an imaged file.
In this matter, among other things the cellular radio chip on the motherboards of these two S5 phones will be different, to be in accordance with the different cellular networks that AT&T use as opposed to the cellular network Verizon uses. This site has more details on this:
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Che...on-T-Mobile-and-Sprint-use-in-the-USA_id77933
As you can see there's some overlap in bands between AT&T and Verizon but not on their respective main channels so you'll have some but pretty limited cellular connectivity. This site indicates you'll only have 3G capability:
https://willmyphonework.net/
But whatever you opt to do, you'll still need to flash the correct ROM on your uncle's S5 if you want it fully functional and stable. Any chance you could get by with only 3G and rely more upon WiFi connectivity?

As for that cellular radio chip, no it's not modular and/or readily replaceable. The chip in your AT&T S5 is shown here:

See step 15, the cellular radio chip is highlighted in yellow. Referenced here:

Thanks for the info, everyone. I may just stay away from this one, then. The G900V is still a working device, and I'm glad Odin didn't kill it. I may just find a good home for it, or something. I did subjugate his battery, though.

I am open to suggestions on where this phone ends up. I could use it to futz around with. I have no 'cadaver' to experiment on, aside from it. But, by what you've explained, this variant is a pretty tough nut to crack, for so little reward, or usefulness. I also think my Uncle was hoping it would be put to good use, so I wanted to carry that forward.

Thanks, again.

You could still keep using your uncle's S5 as a WiFi-only device, negating the need for any SIM/account with a carrier. I still have a semi-retired S3 that's used as home media player device and interface with a Chromecast, and for occasional WiFi Calling via Hangouts when any of the primary phones are tied up. It's more a matter of why not use up the battery on the old phone than the newer one for the more mundane tasks at home than anything.

Otherwise, be sure any microSD and SIM cards are removed, check the internal storage is encrypted (Settings >> Storage or the equivalent wherever Samsung adds/alters the Settings menus), remove any active Google accounts (Settings >> Accounts), and do a Factory Reset to remove you or your uncle's presence on the phone before you sell or give it away.

I agree. 3g at best, not for me.

Listen..if you really like those S5's..and you want to stick with it..I would give it a go ahead..

I staid with my S5 for while..on a 3g(keep in mind that's what the phone says you are getting) but at the same time I heard..understand..and experienced that is ACTUALLY greater than 3g speed you will get..
Mine was a sprint used on tmobile then in cricket..when I tested it I was getting about 4g speeds(in cricket..because tmobile is the worse)..

You can stay with it..
