Root Need to reinstall 4.4.2 clean but keep root

So back when kitkat came out i went with the custom recovery install from rooted 4.1.2 to deodexed de bloated 4.4 and kept root. Ive downloaded and reinstalled and deleted so much stuff since than im afraid i really need to do a true fresh clean install of 4.4. Ive ran scripts, etc i just need to start from square one again. I do have backups but still alot of junk on my phone i dont know really whats safe to delete or not. i have philz and any route before ive always chose clean to install new rom but i know thats not getting everything off. So what's the best route to go about this

Where are you concerned about there being residual files left behind after a full wipe and flash? Everything other than internal and external SD cards is wiped in that process. If your worried about stuff left on your sd cards, simply go into the settings>storage menu and format both of them. After that wipe data and cache in Philz and you should be completely rid of everything.

I have a formatted external sd card ext 4 will that hurt the partition. Ive installed and deleted so many apps, scripts, etc i just think theres alot of wasted space left over from stuff. Im running zipalign, fstrim, drop cache throughout the day. Wiped cache partition through philz and wipe dalvik and all app cache but my phone is lagging. Im running a performance gov and some other tweaks that about a month ago my phone was alot more responsive from sleep to wake. Switching apps. Transitions. Basically i know my phone. Im a power user daily and its not up to par with performance tweaks. Running side by side tests with my room mates moto e and galaxy s 3 all of which are on kitkat. My phone was faster than both of the 2 phones just mentioned a month ago Now my room mates moto e is murdering my phone with regular app opening and website loading on same wifi setting side by side. I have no memory leaks. Running greenify and my performance tweaking is primarily all 3c toolbox. But basically the phone is running equal to stock but its tweak way more than stock. My download speeds are still lightning fast. Im getting 30-40 Mbps down and up which is like lightning. ive jumped back and forth in between 4.4.2 backups about 5-8 times the past month.

Hope this all helps determining what i need. Basically theres lag now that wasn't there and ive done alot to get rid of it

Sounds to me like you've unintentionally slowed your phone down with all that junk. Without a custom kernel, I've found that most performance tweaks just make your device unstable. My suggestion would be to wipe everything: SD cards, system, cache, everything. Reflash the debloated KK ROM and just leave it alone. That's my setup and I experience no slow down in transitions and great performance in resource heavy games(shadowrun: dragonfall specifically which our device should be just barely able to run). Sometimes less is more!

Yeah i think so. Ive figured out whats the placebo and whats not. Normally i would have tackled this task without asking but i know its pretty difficult to root 4.4 if i actually lost root. So just to be sure should i format my external sd also and just re partition it. Im using link2sd which is a miracle app or is that not needed

so on top of my post above which route below is best and anything else i need to do in philz. Also do i choose wipe data/factory reset than clean to install new rom or whats below. I know all of which work as the phone will work either way but i want my install as clean as possible without loosing root. All zips will be saved in external sd in downloads folder

Go to “mounts and storage”
Select “format /boot”
Select “yes”
Select “format /cache”
Select “yes”
Select “format /system”
Select “yes”
Back out of that menu to the main one again and select “advanced”
Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”
Select “yes”

To wipe clean 100% and install a new rom
Select “wipe data/factory reset
Select “yes”
Go to “mounts and storage”
Select “format /boot”
Select “yes”
Select “format /system”
Select “yes”
Back out of that menu to the main one again and select “advanced”
Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”
Select “yes”
route is best for me
