Need to Use Google Voice on Wi-Fi Only

I was hoping to do a setup with Google Voice/Guava/Gizmo5 to let me use Google Voice on a wi-fi network (I'll be out of the country with no cell coverage). I didn't realize that Gizmo5 is closed to new users. Can anyone suggest a reasonable alternative?

I'm on an HTC Hero for Sprint.
