So something weird happened last night. I left my phone to charge overnight, it was at 22% battery when I plugged it in. Then I wake up this morning and as I pick up the phone I see the LED light is not on and the phone is pretty hot, so I turn on the screen and see that it's at 10%... This was weird, so I left the phone cool down and used it up till the battery completely drained. I left it to charge again and it charged normally and it all seems to be good now...

A few things to take into account though:

- When I left it to charge overnight I didn't use the stock cable that came with my phone, I prefer to use a flat micro USB cable because it doesn't get tangled up. It doesn't charge as fast but as I usually leave it overnight this isn't a problem.
- When I charged it this morning though I used the stock cable that came with the G2.
- As per a suggestion on XDA I did an ELT test to try and minimise the hissing/rustling noise issue with the headphones, it did help a bit and this is the only thing I did out of the ordinary.

So is it safe to conclude that the flat cable might have been faulty and/or that the ELT test must have done something?

Possibilities most likely: the plug wasn't inserted all the way so it didn't charge (happened to me a few times - you think it's all the way inserted and will charge, only to come back later and determine, it wasn't pushed in all the way), and at the same time, some program was accessing one of the radios...

If partially inserted, I can imagine a scenario like the first but slightly different: where there is confusion on the part of the phone as to if to charge at all, charge at the rapid rate, or charge at a slow rate... because it can't pull the high current... there's either an intermittent in the cable or a resistive coupling at the plug because not enough of the metal between plug and connector is making contact. That might end up draining the battery...

So yes, it could also be that non OEM cable is giving up the ghost.

Human error - or a bad cable likely culprits.

BTW - I've always wanted to compliment you on your profile pics, the previous and this one... That woman looks quite stunning.

Regards.

I think you're right, I must not have inserted it properly. I used the stock cable last night and left it to charge and everything is fine now, so I guess I shouldn't rely on those cables for charging any more lol.

As for the bolded part, thanks :D My current AV is Emily Deschanel (from the TV show Bones)
