Hey guys, im new to touch screen keyboards, and the one on this eris works me every time. I was wondering if there is any way to set default input method as t9 for texting but still have qwerty as default for all else? If not maybe someone could direct me to a better keyboard? I tried sharpnote or whatever for a couple days and actually preferred the stock keys beleive it or not! Lol

I'm not sure with the droid eris but on the keyboard there should be a little gear looking option at the bottom left side of it click it and it will give you settings for your keyboard make sure you select phone keypad and that's your t9 keyboard.

i knew how to do that, but it makes me use abc for anything else (browsing, etc.) so i was wanting the keypad for texting, but the regular keyboard for all else? not sure why it wont let me use keypad for browsing

If you search the android market for "t9" you can buy an application called (EvenBetter)NumberPad Keyboard. I personally have not used it, but it claims to have a T9 style input.. might be worth it?? It's 3.99 though, only downside

So I just discovered I can switch between keypad and qwerty by simply rotating my phone. And its now letting me use keypad in browser instead of making me use abc so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong lol well thanks for the help guys!

That happens to me to until I got a new keyboard called SlideIT, it works great get it from the market that is a very simple keyboard that you just slide your finger around on the letters and it's very fast I think quicker than t9 once you get use to it.
