Nero alternatives?

Can anyone recommend an alternative to Nero? I used to use it exclusively but am now looking for a free alternative. I also used to use StarBurn. Any others I should look at?

I'm running Windows 7 and 8 but don't like the built-in program

i use sonics record now! it was preinstalled on my laptop when i got it years ago and since then ive always liked it. much more lightweight then nero. im assuming you want it to burn audio cds right? or do you want it for the other features of nero (dvd, picture, wave editor, etc?)
 
i dont remember if it does dvd or not but i know it does cd audio and data. i dont have a dvd burner in that box so i never had a need to check if it burned dvd or not. it should because its made by roxio. i would check it out.
 
If the above don't work for you, give InfraRecorder a try. It's tiny, free, and FOSS. We use this at work on all of our machines. Works fine.
 
I decided to give StarBurn another chance. I think I'll stick with it for now.
