.NET initialization error using doubleTwist

Phantom465

Lurker
I guess this is more of Windows question, so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place. I have tried searching here and Google. I have heard some good reviews of doubleTwist, and I really want to get this working to copy my music and podcasts to my phone.

I installed doubleTwist on my PC. When I go to launch it, I get an error box that says
doubleTwist.Desktop.exe - .NET Framework initialization error
To run this application, you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework Client. Would you like to download and install client now?

So I click yes, and my browser is directed to Microsoft's page where I download .NET. Then I run the .NET installer, and try again. I still get the same error when I try to open doubleTwist. I tried un-installing and re-installing doubleTwist, and rebooting several times. I still can't launch doubleTwist. I hope someone can offer some advise.

Additional info, in case this might be useful:
I just wiped my hard drive clean, and re-installed Windows a couple days ago. I downloaded and installed all of the Windows updates. I have also installed MS Office 2010, AVG anti-virius, iTunes, and World of Warcraft. So I don't have a lot of extra programs or junk that could be causing problems.

Thanks for reading!

Well sometimes things have a way of working out in the end. After trying to un-install and re-install doubleTwist a few more times, I noticed it was saving .NET to my H drive. If you don't already have .NET installed, then doubleTwist will install it for you. I have a 1TB drive mapped as letter H. But I think the drive is defective. It only shows up part of the time in My Computer, and I've had other issues with it.

So, doubleTwist was trying to save .NET Framework to my H drive, while installing the actual doubleTwist program to my C drive where I'd expect to find it. To resolve, I shut down my PC, unplugged the defective drive, and booted up. After that, the installer ran fine.
