networking multimedia app query

hey folks, got a question that I'm hoping you guys can help me with.

what it is, is that I have a home network with a few things linked to it wired and wirelessly.
What I am after is an app that will allow me to access and play all my multimedia files (videos, music etc) on both my Android phone and my Android tablet.
Now, I know that there is the likes of skifta, BUT this only allows me to access files that are stored on my PC. This is of no use to me as all of my files are stored on my hard drive in my media player/server (HiMedia 600). Obviously I can't install an app server (i.e. skifta) onto this media player.
Can anybody help me with this? I'm at my wits end!!!

Oh, just so you all know, my media player is hooked up to my home network too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That app only allows me to access my phone through my PC.
I need an app that allows me to access all my multimedia files that are anywhere on my home network (not just the files on my PC).
SURELY there is an app out there that does this?!
Anybody???
 
Wait, you want your PC to be able to access your phone files, while the phone being able to access PC files at the same time? As for multimedia, yes Remote Web Desktop can access pictures, videos and music on your phone from PC.
