Never use UnitUnlocker.com SCAMMERS!!!

Just putting it out there so no one else gets ripped off like I did. Paid to have my phone unlocked and they email me back saying "We couldn't find your IMEI on the specific network (the phone was FIDO and I bought it from them) if you want we can search the full database for another $15 or give you a refund.

I decided to get a refund and try another place more trustworthy but a few dollars more expensive. So I email them and let them know I would like a refund. 3 days later no reply so I email them another 6 times over the course of 4 days. I get a reply saying the exact same thing as above so Im guessing they dont even look at their incoming emails because they know its people who want a refund and they dont want to give one. So after 9 days emailing them I finally get a reply saying I will get a refund in 1-2 business days. Im happy, finally a reply! So now it have been 4 business days later still no refund and they will not respond to any of my emails and I'm guessing will be keeping my $17.99 I paid them.

Why do business's need to operate like this? If you can't do what you say you will do then give the person their money back ASAP and not rip them off or make them jump through hoops to get it.

TLDR: Dont use UnitUnlocker.com they will ask you to pay more money than what is listed and will not give you a refund.

Is it because it's unlawful to unlock phones that are still subject to contract in the US, so possibly the unlocking business is basically underground and completely unregulated, and therefore subject to scams? Although Fido are a Canadian carrier I believe, is unlocking illegal in Canada, like it is in the USA.

In the EU contract phone unlocking is not unlawful, usually there's many retailers and mall concessions that unlock phones, at no risk at all.

Still doesn't mean its ok for them to keep peoples money. I just wanted to make everyone aware not to use this company because the are scam artists

Who exactly is this "UnitUnlocker.com"? ...because that's not even a registered domain name. And the ones that are on-line are often hidden behind anonymous proxies, because they don't wish to be found. Yes it's not OK for them to take people's money, but good luck trying to take legal action, especially if they're in China or Russia. So be warned of any on-line unlocking service isn't it. Unless you know someone who can vouch for a particular one.
