New AT&T update available

OK right away this is what I've noticed:

Browser is smoother
New top bar in browser
Uses more memory (check task manager)
Not sure if it was there but under keyboards there's an option for voice typing.
Black menu button on the bottom is gone!!!! (Now I have a full screen when using Dolphin HD )
If, anyone notices anything different go ahead and post it here

I've notice an option for recent app button. Settings/display/recent app. You can now change what the recent app open up.

Early Mon. Before the update my total ram used would be roughly 450-480 MB. Now its 550.

OK.....after a reset I notice that I had about 340 MB free. That only lasted a few minutes and now it back to almost 600 MB used. Still......I find it smoother in all aspects.

Damn, my phone downloaded the updated over wifi no problem but when trying to install it gets about 30% done and I get a red X and the everything locks up until I do a hard reset. The only mod I have done is to root the phone (no unlock) to remove bloatware, is this affecting the update? Has this happened to anyone else??

That could possible be why.

That sucks. No easy way to re-root? I did remove a bunch of att apps too, I'm probably hosed until someone makes a rom for rooted users.

Is there a way to stop this update? Htcdm is killing my battery. I'm rooted so either install is going to fail and keep bugging me or its going to break root

On the international version, if you go to settings, about, software updates, and clear the tick then the phone won't check for updates automatically and you won't get notified of any. That should stop it.

I've been trying to update my One X for days. I have the AT&T version. I got to 'check for update', click on the button, it says 'checking for update' loads for a minute, then goes back to 'check for updates'. It just stays in that loop. Doesn't tell me I have to wait to check again, obviously doesn't download anything or doesn't even say no update available (which I know there is).

ANy ideas?

Rooted users of any One X looking to avoid updates or quelch notices not suppressed by unchecking the update box will find good info here -

You'll have to read through the thread, sorry, didn't want to clutter here with too much root talk. ;) :)

If the only way to get the update to work is manually through Sync Manager, which wipes your phone, then I guess I'll have to miss out :/

I've tried everything to get this damn thing to update.

I've tried everything to get this damn thing to update.

I've had the AT&T version since the week it came out, and I've also never been able to get it to update OTA. I'm still on software version 1.75, but I believe it should be on 1.85 by now... Every time I go to check for updates, it just says "Unfortunately, HtcDm has stopped."

FWIW, I called HTC last night and the person I spoke to told me that updating manually really shouldn't wipe your phone, they just tell you that as a CYA in case something happens.

I really want this update, so I'm gonna go ahead and try to update manually tonight when I get home, unless anyone has any better suggestions...

I tried to download the update to my laptop last night but it timed out after about 5 hours!!!! Trying to download it again today while I'm at work... (Something definitely wrong with my computer...)

Good luck.

If it doesn't wipe the phone then I'll definitely go that route.
