New Boost (and Sprint) plans coming 8/19/16

It'll be interesting what data speeds you'll be able to reach while watching videos on this plan. Plan states it optimizes streaming videos but if it's anything like t-mobile's binge on plans, a study found that what they actually doing is throttling data and relying on the video provider to adjust the bitrate. I don't think they've been told to stop by the FCC so I guess it's ok to call it optimized instead of throttling.
T-Mobile "confirmed that they don’t do any actual optimization of video streams other than reducing the bandwidth allocated to them (and relying on the provider to notice, and adapt the bitrate accordingly)."

Anyway 2 lines for $80 sounds great.

I switched my son to the 50 dollar plan when I purchased the warp 7 for him and we haven't really noticed any differences. He told me he was using his phone to watch a movie online last night cause the internet was down at his mom's and he didn't have any problems.

I hope I'm correct in assuming where says that the plan includes up to 8 gigabytes of Wi-Fi hotspot usage that it won't require the extra $5 to use your phone as a hotspot
Yep, the $50 plan includes up to 8GB hotspot. :thumbsupdroid:

For the $30 plan hotspot data counts towards you limit.

I hope I'm correct in assuming where says that the plan includes up to 8 gigabytes of Wi-Fi hotspot usage that it won't require the extra $5 to use your phone as a hotspot (I can't root and bluetooth tethering only does so much).

Unlimited is up to 23GB, btw, after that you may experience throttling to 2G speeds (QoS statement from Boost's website).
I switched my son to the 50 dollar plan last month. So far he has used around 30 gigs of data. He got a text and I got an email when he hit 23 gigs that his data speeds may be lowered during congested times but so far he hasn't noticed any difference in the last 4 days.

I'm currently on the $60 Boost Unlimited plan ($55 with auto reboost) and I'm rooted so I can tether. I use most of my data tethering to my laptop at home. I had considered buying a new phone and now it looks like I only have the option to change to the new $50 unlimited plan including wifi hotspot.

On the $50 unlimited plan are you totally cut off from using your phone as a wifi hotspot at 8GB or is it just slowed down?

Is the system forcing you to change to a current plan or you just considering it?
No I can stay on the $60/55 unlimited plan for now. I was just considering buying a new Boost phone and it isn't rootable at this time. So the only way I could tether off the new phone would be to update to the new $50 unlimited plan and use it as a hotspot.

I have the 60$ unlimited plan and am considering going to the 55$ plan...... is this a good idea? Any and all suggestions /comments are welcome
