Help New devour owner

Hi all, I'm a linux sysadmin with a non-contract Devour. Unfortunately the stock 1.6 that comes on it is locked to Verizon, and I can't turn on wifi without getting an account (which I don't want).

Do you mean you don't want a motoblur account or a Verizon one?

i have the same issue. bypassing the motoblur account is easy, its bypassing the verizon account thats hard. It's not even Verizon as a whole, its just that I don't want a data plan.

if you know someone with a vzw acct you can just activate it with the meid once using the website and then switch it back to the original phone and the wifi should work from there right? thats what we did on my wifes devour after she decided she didnt want to use it. now maybe you could help root the phone lol
