New Droids in Dec?

I went to the Verizon store to buy the Moto Droid this weekend. The sales lady had 3 left. But in discussion said there was a better one coming out soon. She finally said it would be early Dec. (6th) I asked if it was a HTC or Moto and she indicated it was Moto?

Anyone know about this? She highly suggested I wait until Dec even though I was very impressed with the Moto Droid out now.

Is there a new one? Why would she suggest I wait until Dec. when my update is now.

The next Android phone for Big Red is tentatively the HTC Passion...its supposed to be a late Q4/early Q1. There is no talk of a new Motorola android device in December. There should be an OTA software update for the Droid Dec 11th though and another early Jan.

I would guess she is a tad bit confused. Moto will be updating the firmware for the Droid (supposedly Dec 11th). I think she is confusing "Droids with updated firmware" for new phones.

Just a guess, though.

Yeah, I agree, she must be confused because the Droid will be Moto's flagship phone for well into Q1 at the least. Also, Verizon sales people do not have access to any privileged information about upcoming releases. I would bet that her suspicions are based on her interpretation of phone blog articles.
