New DroidX - 3 Newbie Questions

Hey Gang,

Grateful to find this forum. I've been a Palm Treo user forever, and just got a DroidX and love it.

I've had the DroidX for a couple of weeks now and have a few newbie questions:

1. Text Messaging: the message screen loads VERY SLOW ... I tend to keep a bunch of threads, and I can't help but think the thing slowing it down is the incoming data trying to load the avatars, which seem to come from Facebook? Can this be turned on or off?

2. Facebook Contacts: I use the Facebook app to connect to my Facebook Account, and didn't include it in the Social Networking accounts ... but as a result, my "Contacts" list on the phone has ALL my Facebook Friends ... way more than I need ... can this be turned off?

Those are my biggest two issues thus far, otherwise, loving it!

two quick answers -

1. yes, having alot of text messaging threads/messages will slow down any phone, especially smart phones that load text messaging as an application. You want to speed it up, clean out your text messaging folder every so often

2. Facebook contacts can be removed from your contact list by launching the facebook application, hitting the menu button, and going to settings.

Thanks a ton ... on the Facebook App - I went to settings, but see nothing about contacts ...

General Settings:
refresh interval
notifications > active

Notification Settings:
messages, pokes, friend requests, event invites, vibrate, phone LED, and ringtone

Other Settings:
helpful tips. (which didn't have anything about including Facebook Contacts on my phone?)
