New Egg

Under paid Sasquatch!
This just proves what I have always said about New Egg!

New Egg already has a reputation in the industry for putting defective products back in inventory and reshipping them, but this is beyond excusable!

Newegg Ships Fake Intel CPUs, Gets Egg on Face - PCWorld

Everyone I personally know who has purchased from New Egg has had to return the product at least once and they have almost always been opened products.

I have never had a problem with newegg, I am sorry that you and your friends have. Interesting article, though.

I have only once gotten something defective from newegg and it was in the factory sealed package. They exchanged it without issue. I order from them a lot, and swear by them. And, as it turns out, that issue you link to was a supplier issue. It wasn't newegg's fault, and they tried to take care of customers quickly to resolve it.

New Egg initially tried to blame a supplier they don't even have an account with. A good friend of mine owns a computer shop and buys from that company, he was told by his rep that they are looking at filing suit against New Egg.

New Egg immediately tried to put the blame on another company, which backfired then they say it is yet another companies fault? I think they knew from the start they were counterfeit.

Thankfully I've never had an issue with NewEgg, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and suggest that perhaps this was an isolated incident as they came forward quickly to rectify the issue. I suppose each persons experience will vary, but mine has been very positive.

I just ordered an Otterbox case from them. $15 cheaper than Otterbox.com, I hope I get the real deal.

You got most of the story wrong.

The supplier contacted them (newegg) when they heard about it and said it was their fault, and said that they sent "demo units" on accident. Its most likely they were lying to cover there ass, but later the supplier said they weren't demos and that they must of been fakes.

Newegg has issues with that because as far as New Egg knew, the supplier was getting the CPU's directly from intel. This just showed that the supplier was lying.

Everyone who had purchased a fake chip, is being sent the correct item. I have NEVER gotten a broken, damaged, or open item from New Egg, and have spent over $5,000 through them.

LOL...Newegg DOES have an account with D&H. I used to sell product to Newegg. They prefer to deal direct, but in cases when the company can not meet inventory needs, they use distribution houses...This is the case with all online retailers...

**EDIT** I forgot they initially blamed D&H, but I think they then came out and said it was a different supplier. If you where referring to the second supplier, then you may be correct. Just wanted to be clear...

I will have to check, hate to say I did not really pay attention to which supplier was which.

Over $5600 in 50 or so orders since 2004 with only a couple of problems that were quickly resolved. Only caveat is to price check because sometimes they're way out of line and if it's a good price, grab it 'cause prices change dynamicaly.
