New feed algorithm

When news broke that Instagram would be changing their feed from showing all of your '"friend's" posts in chronological order to a computer compiled feed, the internet went crazy. The company assured everyone that they wouldn't push out the update to that until they knew it would work perfectly. Well that update was pushed but not many people complained publicly. I honestly haven't noticed a change but I seem to be missing posts from people that I deem important. Have any of you had an adverse effect since Instagram changed how they do their feed?

The same thing happened to the Facebook timeline. They did so much user testing that I think their algorithm probably pinpoints what is most addictive. It turns out that showing you what it thinks is most interactive sucks you in and then when old content is resurfaced you will revisit the comments.

This is what Twitter should do... btw I use Facebook more than Twitter or Instagram but I haven't noticed much of a change to my Insta. Maybe they are slowly and gradually making the impact more severe.

Just give users the option. Most won't even know the option exists, but it will make the power users happy. Facebook's "Top Stories" feed is the most annoying thing to me, but at least I can switch back to chronological.
