New Galaxy - New number?

I'm having the normal switch from iPhone to Android (Galaxy S5) imessage issues. I seem to be able to get the one on one texts, just can't get everyone's responses to group texts. I didn't know about the issue until after I had traded in my iPhone. I've done all the removing device from my account, logged out (reset the phone and iPad), but nothing seems to work.

I'm open to the idea of changing my phone number. Is that too extreme? That SHOULD fix any issue I have, right?

my friend switched from an iphone to android and he had some texting issues on his Galaxy S5 that was due to his imessage app on his iphone. Apple acknowledged the issue but I dont know if they fixed it.

They won't fix it. They want you to stick to Apple. Anyway, do you have MMS enabled? You can group text with apple people using MMS. Or you could convince them to use a different sms app, like Viber, WeChat, Line, Kakao or something.
