New Galaxy S Leaks

Where it is a nice phone it is way to nice to coming to AT&T anytime soon. My guess would be late Q3 or Q4 before we see it, if at all. And by then it will not be near the phone it is now.

Actually, this is one phone we will get. Samsung has said they'll get it on all 4 major carriers this year. Just wonder when.

I'm sure Samsung does want to get it on all major carriers...I dont think samsung is the one that is slowing things down. Much like the streak it will have to go through AT&T handling before it will be out for AT&T.

Fortunately the guys over at XDA are pretty good at getting these phones rooted, and with several ROMS to pull from they could get a GSM working ROM that has all the AT&T junk pulled out.

There's been a bit of discussion on rooting this phone over on the Galaxy S forum (http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s/70455-samsung-software-updates.html). There was some skepticism as to whether or not it would happen since Samsung has a habit of making it particularly difficult on their phones (according to those who commented). Anyone care to offer an opinion here? I'd thought a phone this nice would inspire folks to work on liberating it (particularly if you're on AT&T).

I am sure it will get some to work on it but the fact that most of the work will have to be done from the ground up it will take awhile. XDA was mentioned but they work mostly on HTC phones.

Only problem I see with it, unless specs are being quoted wrong, is that is NOT Super AMOLED like the Galaxy. That screen is the only reason I would abandon HTC.

I can almost guarentee the specs are somewhat wrong. It lists a snapdragon not the samsung hummingbird.

I have been really thinking about the Samsung phone coming out. I believe I read somewhere that it is pretty easy to turn the samsung ui off and go stock(similar to sense iirc). However, with all the hoopla over the behold 2 and the way samsung lied about upgrades on it, I'm a little gun shy about trusting them with my next phone purchase.

Samsung is very bad in all divisions about upgrades on software which is why I will not buy a Samsung product that needs updates.

Yeah I looked up some information on it since I have basically never had any previous interest in it and I don't like the way it looks. It seems like a really bad Chinese iPhone clone in both physical phone appearance and the app list.
