New HTC Desire & screen deadspots

Hi all,
Signed up with T-Mobile y'day and got myself a new HTC Desire. Nice bit of kit
but I have noticed that there are sometime screen deadspots, mostly within the HTC SMS application - anyone noticed this also?

Whilst on the subject of SMS apps, what are people views on alternative SMS apps?

Cheers
Dave

urm if theres dead spots return it for a model it sounds defective... if you download a paint/drawing app from the market and draw the whole screen to see if there is dead spots..

and alternative sms apps are handcent sms.... and chompsms... both can be found on the market.

That's a good idea, thanks.

Dead spots as in not responding to touches or as in being blank? There are times where I think i am touching one thing (especially on the keyboard) when in fact, my finger is touching slightly below it. It takes some practice.

A lot of people like Handcent SMS - Android app on AppBrain

no it's definitely dead parts of the screen that don't respond to a finger in certain apps. Will give that SMS app you mention a go. Thanks
