New idea.. Most likely has holes...

So I've been thinking lately. Which I should most likely not do. I've been using this programming ideas which allows for receiving and sending text messages. Among other things but this is what I am focused on at the moment. What if we were to say do something similar to dial up in that instead of an IP address, they connect to my phone which has a server running which I wrote where the client sends me an SMS and the server app translates that and sends back other data?

Sounds like some crackpot theory as then you would receive very weird text messages. But as a thought would this in a way be similar to a static IP? I say yes but it would be slow and all other sorts of things.

Disclaimer:

This is another of my ramblings which can easily be discarded but I am interested in the idea of using a phone number as an IP address. Discard if you believe I am a crazy person lol

Your phone number CAN be thought of as a static address, even if it's not an IP address. And you CAN write client/server code so that someone could text you and get back data. It's not crazy, I just can't think of a practical application for it at the moment, but by next week I'll probably have thought of a couple.

Even doing something like automating your phone with Tasker, so that if you receive a text while you're driving, your phone automatically texts back, "Sorry, but I'm driving my car at the moment. I'll get back to you when I get where I'm going. (This is an automated response.)" (which is one of the fairly trivial examples of using Tasker) is something like what you're talking about. It's a chatbot on a phone.
