New Jellybean 4.1.2?

Jaza85

Does anyone know when the new update is coming to the S3. I really want the new sphere cam....and no, I don't wanna root my pride and joy :p

4.1.2 and 4.2 are different updates. We'll be getting soon 4.1.2 with some new features such as the multi window, customizable toggles etc. However, 4.2 won't be there anytime soon. Plus, the sphere camera is a AOSP Android feature, chances are we won't be getting it, even with 4.2. It all depends on Samsung.

The camera 4.2 apk can be use on stock ROMs and the new android keyboard also can be use on the stock ROM.

I did not do these zip files found them on you tube

New android swype keyboard 4.2 http://db.tt/hDuECY3w

Those are flashable zips, so you must flash them thru recovery

Does that mean it comes out today?

No, it means that everyone iwth an Internation version of the S3 can install it even today as it has already been available for over a week.

I have been running it since almost day one and am loving multiwindow and smart rotation.

Wasn't the 4.1.2 a leak? I am quite sure that increases the flash counter as it hasn't been released officially. Not sure though.

Im not sure its the fact its a leak that increases the flash counter so much as its been repackaged with root. But it increases it none-the-less

I found this on another website. It worked for me. Now my S3 has 4.1.1...

Settings -> Application Manager -> ALL
Scroll down and select Google Services Framework
Click "Clear Cache"
(optional?) Restart the phone. (Might not need to do this but I did anyway just to be sure.)
Settings -> About Phone -> Samsung Software Update -> Check Now

What difference does it make if it is a leak or not? It runs very smoothly and the new features are useful.

Flash counter I do not really care about as it can only be seen if the phone works enought to get into download mode and if it does it can be fixed by flashing. If it does not, the service guys will not see it either.

The differences are:

1 it MAY not be stable
2 it increases the flash counter.

Ok you may not have a warranty to protect but many do so being aware that this leak will void warranty is paramount I think

I have an International S3 and when I search for Software Updates, it says "The latest updates have already been installed" and I have 4.1.1. When will I get 4.1.2?

Why does everyone care about the flash counter? Is it a warranty only worry? Isn't there an app for that?

There seem to be some confusion.

To clear this up for the benefit of the OP

Current official release:JB 4.1.1
Leaked release: JB 4.1.2

When 4.1.2 is being released is unclear. Some say December, but who knows.

Now to get 4.1.2 follow the post in 'Everything Root'.

And yes, it WILL increase your flash counter and sets your firmware to 'modified', which also disables OTA and Kies updates.

Other issues are indeed warranty. However, you need to be able to get into a special download mode to see it has been modified. If your phone is bricked then there is no way to find that out either. If your phone is not bricked but needs to be send back then you can install an original Samsung Rom and reset the flash counter to 0 (using apps like Triangle Away).
