Help New Motherboard

Anything special I need to do after installing a new Motherboard. Should I unplug the hard drive and just run BIOS? Uncharted territory for me.

Are you trying to use a Windows drive from a different motherboard? If so, it is highly likely Win won't boot.

If you have a Linux Live media (CD/DVD/USB), then I'd run memtest86+ and verify your RAM is installed correctly and has no issues. It used to be we had to do burn-in on stuff, but that was decades ago.

The existing motherboard took a crap. Replacing it with identical. I have Windows and Linux on an SSD and have heard war stories abut drives getting wiped. I've got Parted Magic and can run that, what are the chances of the BIOS being up to date?

And what the heck is CMOS?

About the same chance as me burning my apartment to the ground. I think I got everything plugged in right.......at $15 bucks I got 2 JIC!

Found out a little late that these motherboard are crap. PSU feeds the motherboard directly. I guess that's not the best design?
